KATHUA, 21 FEB: In continuation to a drive launched by District Police Kathua against Thieves in this District, Kathua Police achieved success by apprehending 03 thieves and recovered stolen items (Steel Pipes) approximate worth Rs. 800,000/- from the offenders who were involved in the offence in the limits of P/S Lakhanpur.
On dated 14.11.2023 on the complaint of the complainant namely Raj Singh S/o Pritam Singh R/o Barni, Basantpur lodged a complaint at PP Basantpur in which he claimed that 280 Steel Pipes of PHE Department (Specifications 80 mm 20 Feet length) has been stolen from Dhanna Basantpur area.In this regard a case FIR No. 133/2023 U/S 379/34/411/IPC stands registered at P/S Lakhanpur. During the course of investigation two persons namely 1. Akhter Hussain S/o Mohd. Jameel R/o Jannu Tehsil Basohli District Kathua 2. Ashraf Malik S/o Lt. Rafiq Malik R/o Palahi Tehsil Basohli District Kathua got arrested on a suspect basis on dated 13/02/2024.During questioning they disclosed specific information about another involved person of Kurushetra Haryana.On this a police team headed by IC PP Basantpur under the guidance of DySP DAR Kathua & SHO PS Lakahnpur deputed to Kurukshetra Harayana where another person namely Sandeep Singla S/o Mam Chand R/o Chakerwati Mohalla Taneshwar Tehsil & District Kurukshetra was also arrested on 20/02/2024.On his further disclosure the police team was able to recover stolen property of a quantity of about 205 Steel Pipes (specifications 80 MM 20 feet in length) worth rupees about 08 Lakh from his possession at Bhawani Kheda Tehsil & District Kurukshetra Haryana. In this way the theft case of Police Station Lakhanpur was solved whereas Kathua Police has launched a manhunt for other persons involved. The recovery of the stolen items was made by IC PP Basantpur under the guidance of DySP DAR Kathua & SHO PS Lakhanpur.
