April 25: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police Party from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established at Naina Sangam intercepted one vehicle Mahindra Balero bearing registration No. JK02DA-8994 and recovered about 18.71Kgs of Poppy Straw from the said vehicle. Driver of the vehicle identified as Muraad Ali son of Naik Alam resident of Kadyal RS Pora Jammu have been arrested on spot. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this regard, a case under relevant sections of the law stands registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation set into motion.
