JAMMU AND KASHMIR POLICE RECOVERED ONLINE DEFRAUDED AMOUNT

Kathua; 09 October :- District Cyber Cell Kathua under overall supervision of SSP Kathua has once again demonstrated its commitment to combat cyber crime by recovering online defrauded amount of ₹ 28,000/-

Brief facts of the case are that on 12/09/2024, an online complaint was received at Cyber Cell Kathua in which a complainant namely Bhumika Thankur D/o Ranjit Singh R/o Tehsil Ramkot Kathua reported online fraud of Rs 28,000 from her bank account. The fraudster sent fake bank messages to complainant and told her that he has mistakenly entered her account number while transferring the amount to someone else. The complainant without checking her bank account transferred the amount of Rs 28,000 to fraudster.

During the investigation, the Cyber Cell Kathua team acted swiftly and exhibited hectic efforts and froze the fraudster's account instantly in which the defrauded amount was transferred. Today on 09/10/2024, the defrauded amount of Rs 28,000 has been recovered and credited back to the account of the victim on the implementation of Court order.

*Pertinently, from the date of establishment, Cyber Cell Kathua has successfully recovered defrauded amount of Rs 29,60,161/- so far. This achievement of District Police Kathua underscores the unit's expertise, dedication and tireless efforts in safeguarding the common citizens against online fraud and cheating.*
