Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Ramban recovered 2.638 kgs Cannabis (Charas) like substance under Operation Sanjeevani One person arrested

Ramban, December 02: Continuing its fight against the menace of drugs, the Ramban Police, today recovered a commercial quantity of contraband *Charas* from an individual in the Ramban area.

While conducting routine checks, a police party from the Police Station Ramban noticed a pedestrian walking from Kanthi towards Ramban. Upon reaching Samadhi Morh Kanthi, the individual attempted to flee upon seeing the police checkpoint. The police party tactically apprehended the person, who was identified as Surjeet Singh, son of Beer Singh, resident of Kharkoni Damote, Tehsil and District Ramban. Upon further questioning, he became visibly perplexed.

During a subsequent search, a black polythene bag was discovered containing small balls of a substance resembling *charas*, which were packed in a transparent polythene bag. Upon counting, a total of 51 balls weighing 2.638 Kgs of the charas-like substance were found.

In this regard, Case FIR No. 279/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Police Station Ramban. The accused has been taken into custody, and the contraband has been seized. Investigations are currently underway to explore any connections or networks associated with this illegal activity.
