*Police observes ‘POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY’ in remembrance of Police Martyrs across the Valley* _Series of events inaugurated_


October 21:* ```In order to pay rich tributes to martyrs who sacrificed their lives while serving the nation, Police Commemoration Day-2024 was observed by Police across the Kashmir Valley. Besides, various events were inaugurated in various districts in the memory of Police Martyrs.

A volleyball tournament was organised by Police at District Police Lines Ganderbal. 08 teams of different schools of District Ganderbal are part of this tournament. The tournament was inaugurated by DySP DAR DPL Ganderbal Shri Nazir Ahmad. The inaugural match was played between Boys Higher Secondary School Khurhama and Boys Higher Secondary School Safapora, which was won by Boys Higher Secondary School Khurhama by 2:0.

Another volleyball tournament was inaugurated by SP Sopore, in the memory of martyrs on the Police Commemoration Day in PD Sopore. In Pulwama, a badminton tournament was inaugurated by SSP Pulwama.
Kulgam Police kick started Volleyball and Badminton Tournaments at DPL Kulgam in which multiple teams of different schools/villages of District Kulgam will participate. The tournaments were inaugurated by DC Kulgam Shri Athar Aamir Khan-IAS and SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS.

SSP Awantipora along with officers of District Police inaugurated Sports events at DPL Awantipora. Badminton Girls (Senior/Junior) and Volleyball tournament boys (Senior/Junior) were formally started. Members of civil society and large numbers of participating players were present on the occasion.

Moreover, gifts were distributed among the families of the Police Martyrs and interaction meetings were also held in various districts. Likewise, blood donation camps were inaugurated at district level by concerned district heads and DIsG.

It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Police is organising different sports, cultural and educational events like Volleyball, Cultural Programmes, Marathon and other Co-curricular activities till 31st October 2024, in the loving memory of Police Martyrs.```
