War on Drugs Intensifies: Anantnag Police Apprehend Two Drug Peddlers in Aishmuqam

Anantnag, 16 November: In a continued effort to eliminate the drug menace, Anantnag Police have apprehended two drug peddlers and seized approximately 6.815 kilograms of cannabis husk.

Acting on specific information, a Police team from Aishmuqam set up a checkpoint at Logripora Aishmuqam crossing. During the operation, two individuals carrying nylon bags were intercepted. Upon searching the bags, the Police recovered the contraband. The accused have been identified as Mehraj Ud Din Bala, son of Ghulam Mohd Bala, resident of Peer Mohalla Aishmuqam, and Tawseef Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Shafi Bhat, resident of Magray Mohalla Aishmuqam. Both were arrested on the spot, and the narcotics were seized.

A case under FIR No. 90/2024, registered under sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, has been filed at Police Station Aishmuqam, and further investigation is underway.

The Public is urged to report any drug-related activity or other crimes to the nearest police station. Cooperation from the community is crucial in the fight against drugs, and Anantnag Police remain committed to taking strong legal action against offenders.
