Kishtwar, Nov. 20: In a significant breakthrough, Kishtwar Police have solved a burglary case within 24 hours involving the theft of 60 meters of 70 Sqmm (4-core) copper cable worth ₹1.98 lakh from the Power House Complex of Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project (HEP). The theft occurred on the night of November 18, 2024.
Upon receiving a formal complaint from the Officer P&A of Pakal Dul HEP, a case was promptly registered at Police Station Kishtwar under FIR No. 275/2024. A team led by IC PP Dool PSI Shubham Sharma launched an immediate and thorough investigation and arrested three suspects, identified as:
1. Nisar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool
2. A juvenile (name withheld)
3. Abdul Razaq, son of Mohd Ismail
(All residents of Dool, Kishtwar)
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and disclosed the location of the stolen property.
Acting on the leads, the police team, assisted by EMIC Dool Mr. Vijay Kumar Gupta (NT Dool), carried out a search and recovered items included:
• 42 kg of melted copper wire
• Tools used in the crime, such as ropes, bags, and blades
The total value of the recovered property is approximately ₹1.98 lakh. Further investigations are underway, and additional recoveries are anticipated.

He issued a strong warning to individuals involved in illegal activities, urging them to desist and integrate into the mainstream. He also said that Kishtwar Police remains vigilant and resolute in taking strict action against those who breach the law. Criminals will not be allowed to disturb peace and harmony in the district.
