Sopore, 04 January: Sopore Police have successfully arrested a drug peddler and seized contraband substances in their ongoing efforts to eliminate drug-related issues from society.

On January 3, 2025, during a naka checking at Adipora Crossing, a police team led by SHO PS Sopore, Inspector Ayaz Gellani, and supervised by SDPO Sopore, Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, apprehended a suspect, Owais Bashir Shakari from Shercolony, Sopore, who was carrying a polythene bag.

Upon searching the bag, the police recovered 5.10 grams of a substance resembling Brown Sugar. A case (FIR No. 01/2025) has been filed under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation has begun.

Sopore Police encourage the public to share any information related to narcotics or other crimes with the nearest police station or by dialing 112. They urge the community to cooperate in the fight against drugs and assure that strict action will be taken against criminals as per the law.
