July 02: Police in Baramulla along with security forces have arrested a terror associate linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT/TRF and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from his possession.

Acting on a specific information about the movement of terrorist in the Eco Park Crossing area, a joint patrol was conducted by Baramulla Police and Army (46 RR). During patrolling, a suspicious person was intercepted who after noticing joint party tried to flee from the spot but was swiftly apprehended by the alert patrol team. He has been identified as Shakir Ahmad Lone son of Ab Rashid resident of Dangerpora Sheeri.

Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 pistol, 01 magazine, 08 pistol rounds and 03 hand grenades were recovered from his possession.

During preliminary questioning it surfaced that he is linked with proscribed terror outfit LET/TRF and is in touch with a Pakistan based terror handler. He was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Baramulla town.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.```
