Jammu, July 02: On 02-07-2024, following the report of a 17 yrs old male named as Akash Choudhary S/O Pritam Singh R/O Gajansoo Marh drowned in the Ranbir Canal near the Babe Talah area of Kanachak, Jammu, a search and rescue operation was promptly launched. *The operation, coordinated by the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), received crucial assistance from local residents under the close supervision of SP Rural Jammu,SDPO Domana and SHO Kanachak.*

The matter was escalated to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu, with a request to halt the flow of water in the Ranbir Canal to facilitate the recovery of the body. After extensive and diligent efforts, the body of the drowned youth was recovered from the canal. Following the completion of all legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
