*September 15:* Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Shopian have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party of Police Post Wachi, at a checkpoint established at Melhura Laktipora Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag. He has been identified as Ab Hameed Bhat son of Gh Qadir Bhat resident of Melhura Wachi. During the search, 11 Charas sticks weighing about 228 grams were recovered from his possession.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 82/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Zainapora and an investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.
